Hi and now for the boring stuff.
Well my name is Dave Butcher and I was born in 1959 in Hove, East Sussex and lived most of my life in Middlesbrough where I found a love for nature in the surrounding North Yorkshire Moors
I totally ignored any artistic tallent that I had in my school days, I then persued a career as an Offshore Commercial Diver working mainly in the Middle East and STILL ignored any artistic talent that would poke through with the occasional sketch I did.I eventually saw sense when an accident at work gave me time to concentrate on my art and would like to think that eventually I could make a living from my art. Infact I was honoured to have one of my drawings 'Pals' shortlisted for the ' DAVID SHEPHERD WILDLIFE ARTIST OF THE YEAR AWARD 2008'
I started by doing Pen and Ink drawings and then progressed to Pencils doing mainly portraiture.
Well my other interests are Banjo and Guitar playing and I used to fly Microlites in Alaska and in my younger days took up Freefall Parachuting and I still kid myself up I will take these sports up again.
Well work now takes me up to the Highlands in Scotland and I am looking forward to the opportunities this will give me for fresh matarial.
Had a great time working in Scotland which now sadly has come to an end. However I am working in a totally different field from Diving now in Brighton (much prefer the wilds of Scotland ) and although a different field I am now working in I am greatly inspired by the people I am working with a vast majority of whom are travelling and also artists and photographers - so luck shines again on me.
Ihave been fortunate enough to have two of my pictures exhibited at Marwell in the MIWAS Exhibition, unfortunately I could not be there in person as out of the blue I got offered work Offshore in the North Sea.
Well I am now working in the North Sea in the Norwegian sector in the oil and gas business, and I am loving being offshore again.
