Winter Wolf

The Wolf always holds a special meaning for me , often a missunderstood creature thanks to mythology. I only learned the other day that once a litter of pups is born the mother instinctly can tell which are the stronger of the pups. The stronger ones then will suckle on the central teets which provide more nutrient rich milk, while the 'weaker' pups suckle on the teets at the side where the milk is not so nutrient rich. Consequently a permanent ranking is established which will be maintained when the pups are old enough to join the pack.
